Congo Traveler’s Checklist

• Passport with valid Congo visa stamped in it
• Vaccination card with valid Yellow Fever vaccination stamped in it (required for Congo)
• Ticket
• Letter of Invitation (to show at immigration if requested to do so)
• Addresses & Phone numbers of Congo contacts.  You will be required to list the address of where you are staying on the immigration form.
• Photocopy of your passport and visa page
• Money no later that 2007, no rips, no tears. (don’t bring travelers checks)
• Laptop
• Power supply to laptop
• Phone (if you have a GSM phone, get it unlocked before you leave.  Then you can use a local SIM and it is much cheaper.)
• Power supply to phone
• Around 4 passport size photos (particularly for those intending to apply for a visa d’etablissement)
• Medications younormally take and malaria prophylaxis medication
• Flashlight
• Plug Adaptors for 220V (2 small round prongs) Bring several as they are easy to loose.
• Small transformer if needed.  Congo current is 220V/50 hz
• Padlock (at least one cupboard door in MPH rooms cans be secured with a padlock for storing high value items)
• Travel Alarm Clock
• Cameras and camera battery chargers
• extra batteries for cameras and flashlights
• Insect Repelant for black flies and mosquitoes
• Hat or Cap
• Sunscreen
• Hand sanitizer
• Pack essentials and a change of clothes in carry-on baggage just in case your baggage does not arrive with you
• A sense of humor and patience
